Weekend Preview

By Jimmy Rees

We look forward to this weekend rugby. Where both 1st XV and 2nd XV are both involved in must win games!

1st XV will be hosting Royal Wootton Bassett 2nd XV. The 1st XV have started the year perfectly as the gain a 5 point away win against Pewsey Vale and will no doubt be looking to continue that form into their first home game of 2019. RWB on the other hand started off the year with a narrow defeat when they travelled over to Minety. Warminster lay 4th in the table and RWB are only just behind them in 6th.

The 2nd XV also are home this Saturday where they host Combe Down 2nd XV in a rearranged fixture from December. The 2nd XV were held to draw against a strong Melksham 3rd XV last Saturday. Where as Combe Down had a walk over as Minety were not able to raise a side.

Selection news:
Going in to this fixture skipper Steve Rowbotham is available this Saturday. And Ollie Pinnell returns. Tom Evans isn’t available due to a knee injury and hooker Alex Jenkins also isn’t available. Fly Half Jimmy Rees returns this week after returning from holidays. New signing Ben Hood also returns and is available for selection this weekend. Kieron Plummer also passed fit, as he returns after a lengthy injury.

U6s -U11s are Away to Walcot for their first games of 2019.

U12s host Sherborne in a cup game.

U13s travel to Devizes

U15s host Minety at Folly Lane

Pink Panthers will be training at Folly Lane

Colts will be training in the afternoon at Folly Lane.

Club captain Jimmy Rees was very excited about the amount of activity happening this weekend. ‘It’s good to see two (senior) home games at the beginning of the year. Hopefully on Saturday we can get a big crowd behind us as both games are pivotal for the remaining part of the season’ he also went on to discuss the mini and junior action ‘it’s fantastic to see U12,13 and 15s all in action this weekend and the whole of the mini sections taking on Walcot. Also our ever improving Pink Pathners will be continuing training. There is loads of action happening this weekend so hopefully we can get good support behind us!’
